The Hemelhuis was a participatory space created within the context of a public winter festival, conceived as a place of warmth, reflection, and shared presence.
Designed as a temporary house for encounter, it invited visitors to step out of the surrounding bustle and enter a quieter atmosphere of connection, imagination, and care.
Alongside the overall production and curatorial framing of the space, artistic direction guided the choreographic contributions, shaping their relation to audience and environment.
The evening concluded with a live storytelling ritual marking a moment of pause and renewal, centered on gathering, reflection, and love — for others, for the world, and for oneself. As for me I found a few of the best friendships I ever had in this project.
Within this closing moment, visitors were invited to slow down, reconnect, and carry forward renewed energy, like a new moon forming the ground for what comes next.
The Hemelhuis functioned as a space for attention and togetherness: a place where visitors could rest, meet, and reconnect with themselves and others.
Through its artistic program and atmosphere, it positioned care, presence, and shared imagination as active forces within the festival landscape.
