Nika van Kraaij
As a fashion artist, Nika van Kraaij moves within the dynamic field of sustainability, craftsmanship and visual expression. Her work centres on the upcycling of existing garments and discarded textiles, transforming them into contemporary, one-of-a-kind pieces. Through an intuitive and hands-on process she explores the emotional and social narratives embedded in clothing, allowing materials to guide both form and meaning. Her practice resists conventional fashion systems and instead grows from experimentation, DIY culture and the tactile dialogue between maker and fabric. By giving pre-loved materials a renewed presence, she creates wearable artworks that question consumption habits while celebrating individuality and creative agency.
